Chapter 43: Sītā Sees the Magical Deer
Text 3.43.27
पश्यास्य जृम्भमाणस्य दीप्तामग्निशिखोपमाम्।
जिह्वां मुखान्निःसरन्तीं मेघादिव शतह्रदाम्॥
paśyāsya jṛmbhamāṇasya dīptām agni-śikhopamām
jihvāṁ mukhān niḥsarantīṁ meghād iva śata-hradām
paśya = look; asya = when it; jṛmbhamāṇasya = yawns; dīptām = blazing; agni-śikha-upamām = it resembles the flame of a fire; jihvām = at the tongue; mukhāt = of its mouth; niḥsarantīm = jutting out; meghāt = from the cloud; iva = [and] appears like; śata-hradām = a lightning.
Look at the tongue jutting out of its mouth when it yawns. It resembles the blazing flame of a fire [and] appears like a lightning from the cloud.
