Chapter 45: Sītā Chastises Lakṣmaṇa
Text 3.45.13
अवध्यः समरे रामो नैवं त्वं वक्तुमर्हसि।
न त्वामस्मिन्वने हातुमुत्सहे राघवं विना॥
avadhyaḥ samare rāmo naivaṁ tvaṁ vaktum arhasi
na tvām asmin vane hātum utsahe rāghavaṁ vinā
avadhyaḥ = is undefeatable; samare = in battle; rāmaḥ = Rāma; na = not; evam = in this manner; tvam = You; vaktum = speak; arhasi = should; na = not; tvām = you; asmin = in this; vane = forest; hātum = to leave; utsahe = I do want; rāghavam = Rāghava; vinā = [when you are] without.
Rāma is undefeatable in battle. You should not speak in this manner. I do not want to leave you in this forest [when you are] without Rāghava.
“You should not speak in this manner” means “You should not speak harsh words like this.”
