Chapter 45: Sītā Chastises Lakṣmaṇa
Text 3.45.21
अनार्याकरुणारम्भ नृशंस कुलपांसन।
अहं तव प्रियं मन्ये रामस्य व्यसनं महत्॥
anāryākaruṇā-rambha nṛśaṁsa kula-pāṁsana
ahaṁ tava priyaṁ manye rāmasya vyasanaṁ mahat
anārya = O uncivilized; akaruṇa-ārambha = one devoid of compassion completely; nṛśaṁsa = O cruel; kula-pāṁsana = defiler of Your family; aham = I; tava = to You; priyam = is pleasing; manye = think that; rāmasya = that has befallen Rāma; vyasanam = calamity; mahat = [this] great.
O uncivilized one completely devoid of compassion!1 O cruel defiler of Your family! I think that [this] great calamity that has befallen Rāma is pleasing to You!
1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: akaruṇārambha dayā-prasakti-rahita.
