Chapter 46: Rāvaṇa Disguises Himself and Approaches Sītā
Text 3.46.28
नेह गच्छन्ति गन्धर्वा न देवा न च किन्नराः।
राक्षसानामयं वासः कथं नु त्वमिहागता॥
neha gacchanti gandharvā na devā na ca kinnarāḥ
rākṣasānām ayaṁ vāsaḥ kathaṁ nu tvam ihāgatā
na = neither; iha = here; gacchanti = come; gandharvāḥ = the gandharvas; na = nor; devāḥ = the devas; na ca = nor; kinnarāḥ = the kinnaras; rākṣasānām = of the rākṣasas; ayam = this; vāsaḥ = is the residence; katham = how; nu = then; tvam = you; iha = here; āgatā = did come.
Neither the gandharvas, nor the devas, nor the kinnaras come here. This is the residence of the rākṣasas. Then how did you come here?
He then states another reason for [her being in] danger [there].
