Chapter 49: Rāvaṇa Kidnaps Sītā
Text 3.49.38
सा तमुद्वीक्ष्य सुश्रोणी रावणस्य वशं गता।
समाक्रन्दद्भयपरा दुःखोपहतया गिरा॥
sā tam udvīkṣya suśroṇī rāvaṇasya vaśaṁ gatā
samākrandad bhaya-parā duḥkhopahatayā girā
sā = that lady; tam = to Jaṭāyu; udvīkṣya = looking up; suśroṇī = of beautiful hips; rāvaṇasya = of Rāvaṇa; vaśam gatā = who had come under the control; samākrandat = cried out; bhaya-parā = fearfully; duḥkha-upahatayā = that faltered due to her distress; girā = with a voice.
Looking up to Jaṭāyu, that lady of beautiful hips who had come under the control of Rāvaṇa, fearfully cried out with a voice that faltered due to her distress.
