Chapter 52: Rāvaṇa Again Abducts Sītā
Text 3.52.1
तमल्पजीवितं गृध्रं स्फुरन्तं राक्षसाधिपः।
ददर्श भूमौ पतितं समीपे राघवाश्रमात्॥
tam alpa-jīvitaṁ gṛdhraṁ sphurantaṁ rākṣasādhipaḥ
dadarśa bhūmau patitaṁ samīpe rāghavāśramāt
tam = the; alpa-jīvitam = with a little bit of life [remaining]; gṛdhram = vulture; sphurantam = Jaṭāyu was trembling; rākṣasa-adhipaḥ = the leader of the rākṣasas; dadarśa = saw; bhūmau = on the ground; patitam = [and] fallen; samīpe = near; rāghava-āśramāt = Lord Rāma’s āśrama.
The leader of the rākṣasas saw the vulture fallen on the ground near Lord Rāma’s āśrama. Jaṭāyu was trembling, with a little bit of life [remaining].
In this chapter, it is described that Rāvaṇa again kidnapped Sītā-devī whom he had released earlier while fighting with Jaṭāyu.
