Chapter 54: Rāvaṇa Brings Sītā to Laṅkā
Text 3.54.9
सम्भ्रमात्परिवृत्तोर्मी रुद्धमीनमहोरगः।
वैदेह्यां ह्रियमाणायां बभूव वरुणालयः॥
sambhramāt parivṛttormī ruddha-mīna-mahoragaḥ
vaidehyāṁ hriyamāṇāyāṁ babhūva varuṇālayaḥ
sambhramāt = due to fear [of Rāvaṇa]; parivṛtta-ūrmī = the waves tossed up; ruddha-mīna-mahā-uragaḥ = and its fish and large snakes stopped moving; vaidehyām = while Vaidehī; hriyamāṇāyām = was being carried away; babhūva = was [terrified]; varuṇa-ālayaḥ = of the ocean.
While Vaidehī was being carried away, the waves of the ocean rolled up and its fish and large snakes stopped moving.
