Chapter 54: Rāvaṇa Brings Sītā to Laṅkā
Text 3.54.13

तत्र तामसितापाङ्गां शोकमोहपरायणाम्।
निदधे रावणः सीतां मयो मायामिव स्त्रियम्॥

tatra tām asitāpāṅgāṁ śoka-moha-parāyaṇām
nidadhe rāvaṇaḥ sītāṁ mayo māyām iva striyam

tatra = in his inner quarters; tām = her; asita-apāṅgām = the black-eyed; śoka-moha-parāyaṇām = was overcome by grief and bewilderment; nidadhe = placed; rāvaṇaḥ = Rāvaṇa; sītām = Sītā; mayaḥ = Maya; māyām = who possessed astonishing magical powers [in a cave]; iva = just as; striyam = [placed] the lady Svayamprabhā.

The black-eyed Sītā was overcome by grief and bewilderment. Rāvaṇa placed her in his inner quarters just as Maya [placed] the lady Svayamprabhā who possessed astonishing magical powers [in a cave].1

Maya refers to the [former] ruler of Tripura.
