अलं व्रीडेन वैदेहि धर्मलोपकृतेन च।
आर्षोऽयं दैवनिष्यन्दो यस्त्वामभिगमिष्यति॥
alaṁ vrīḍena vaidehi dharma-lopa-kṛtena ca
ārṣo ’yaṁ daiva-niṣyando yas tvām abhigamiṣyati
vaidehi = Vaidehī; alam = enough; vrīḍena = of being shy; dharma-lopa-kṛtena ca = that you are breaking dharma; ayam = this; daiva-niṣyandaḥ = divinely ordained relationship; yaḥ = that; tvām = you; abhigamiṣyati = will enter into; ārṣaḥ = is permitted by the sages.
Vaidehī, enough of being shy that you are breaking dharma! This divinely ordained relationship that you will enter into is permitted by the sages.1
1 Rāvaṇa has the rākṣasa form of wedding in his mind, in which a girl can be forcibly kidnapped and married. But Rāvaṇa is under the influence of tamo-guṇa while speaking this because this form of wedding is only applicable to unmarried girls.
