Chapter 58: Rāma Reaches His Āśrama in Anxiety
Text 3.58.15
सर्वथा तु कृतं कष्टं सीतामुत्सृजता वने।
प्रतिकर्तुं नृशंसानां रक्षसां दत्तमन्तरम्॥
sarvathā tu kṛtaṁ kaṣṭaṁ sītām utsṛjatā vane
pratikartuṁ nṛśaṁsānāṁ rakṣasāṁ dattam antaram
sarvathā tu = in every respect; kṛtam = You have brought about; kaṣṭam = distress; sītām = Sītā; utsṛjatā = by leaving; vane = in the forest; pratikartum = to retaliate; nṛśaṁsānām = the cruel; rakṣasām = rākṣasas; dattam = because You have given; antaram = an opportunity.
By leaving Sītā in the forest, You have brought about distress in every respect because You have given the cruel rākṣasas an opportunity to retaliate.1
