Chapter 59: Rāma Chastises Lakṣmaṇa
Text 3.59.7
आर्येणेव पराक्रुष्टं हा सीते लक्ष्मणेति च।
परित्राहीति यद्वाक्यं मैथिल्यास्तच्छ्रुतिं गतम्॥
āryeṇeva parākruṣṭaṁ hā sīte lakṣmaṇeti ca
paritrāhīti yad vākyaṁ maithilyās tac chrutiṁ gatam
āryeṇa iva = just like Your noble self; parākruṣṭam = calling for us that were cried out by someone; hā = ah; sīte = Sītā; lakṣmaṇa iti = Lakṣmaṇa; ca = and; paritrāhi iti = save [Me]; yat vākyam = words; maithilyāḥ = Maithilī’s; tat = the; śrutim = into ear; gatam = entered.
The words calling for us, “Ah, Sītā, Lakṣmaṇa!” and “Save [Me]!” that were cried out by someone just like Your noble self, entered into Maithilī’s ear.1
