Chapter 59: Rāma Chastises Lakṣmaṇa
Text 3.59.16
एवमुक्ता तु वैदेही परिमोहितचेतना।
उवाचाश्रूणि मुञ्चन्ती दारुणं मामिदं वचः॥
evam uktā tu vaidehī parimohita-cetanā
uvācāśrūṇi muñcantī dāruṇaṁ mām idaṁ vacaḥ
evam = this; uktā tu = when I said; vaidehī = to Vaidehī; parimohita-cetanā = she, with a completely bewildered intelligence; uvāca = spoke; aśrūṇi = tears; muñcantī = while shedding; dāruṇam = terrible; mām = to me; idam = the following; vacaḥ = words.
When I said this to Vaidehī, she, with a completely bewildered intelligence, spoke the following terrible words to me while shedding tears.
