Chapter 60: Rāma Searches for Sītā
Text 3.60.27
तिष्ठ तिष्ठ वरारोहे न तेऽस्ति करुणा मयि।
नात्यर्थं हास्यशीलासि किमर्थं मामुपेक्षसे॥
tiṣṭha tiṣṭha varārohe na te ’sti karuṇā mayi
nātyarthaṁ hāsya-śīlāsi kim-arthaṁ mām upekṣase
tiṣṭha = stop; tiṣṭha = stop; vara-ārohe = beautiful woman; na = no; te asti = you have; karuṇā = mercy; mayi = upon Me; na = not; atyartham = excessively; hāsya-śīlā asi = it is your nature to joke [with Me]; kim-artham = why; mām = Me; upekṣase = do you neglect.
Beautiful woman, stop, stop! You have no mercy upon Me. It is not your nature to excessively joke [with Me]. Why do you neglect Me?
