vivaśam = I am helpless; śoka-santaptam = burning in distress; dīnam = and in a wretched state of existence; bhagna-mano-ratham = My cherished desires are unfulfilled; mām = Me; iha = here; utsṛjya = you have left; karuṇam = piteously; kīrtiḥ = fame; naram = [that leaves] a man; iva = like; anṛjum = of deceptive behavior; kva = where; gacchasi = have you gone; vara-ārohe = O beautiful lady; mām = Me; na utsṛja = don’t leave; sumadhyame = O slender-waisted woman; tvayā = from you; virahitaḥ ca = separated; aham = I; mokṣye = will give up; jīvitam = life; ātmanaḥ = My.
I am helpless, burning in distress and in a wretched state of existence. My cherished desires are unfulfilled. Like fame [that leaves] a man of deceptive behavior, you have piteously left Me here. O beautiful lady, where have you gone? O slender-waisted woman, don’t leave Me! Separated from you, I will give up My life!
“I am helpless” means “I am dependent on you.” “Don’t leave Me” implies “It doesn’t suit your nature to leave Me.”
What is the problem with [Sītā-devī] leaving [Śrī Rāma]? That is stated in the second half of text 11.
