Chapter 61: Rāma’s Lamentation
Text 3.61.26
एवमुक्तस्तु सौहार्दाल्लक्ष्मणेन स राघवः।
उवाच दीनया वाचा दुःखाभिहतचेतनः॥
evam uktas tu sauhārdāl lakṣmaṇena sa rāghavaḥ
uvāca dīnayā vācā duḥkhābhihata-cetanaḥ
evam = these words; uktaḥ tu = spoke; sauhārdāt = out of affection; lakṣmaṇena = when Lakṣmaṇa; saḥ rāghavaḥ = Rāghava; uvāca = spoke [the following]; dīnayā = in a plaintive; vācā = voice; duḥkha-abhihata-cetanaḥ = whose heart was overcome by sorrow.
When Lakṣmaṇa spoke these words out of affection, Rāghava, whose His heart was overcome by sorrow, spoke [the following] in a plaintive voice.
