Chapter 63: Rāma’s Pain of Separation from Sītā
Text 3.62.15

कामं त्विदं पुष्पितवृक्षषण्डं नानाविधैः पक्षिगणैरुपेतम्।
वनं प्रयाता नु तदप्ययुक्तमेकाकिनी सातिबिभेति भीरुः॥

kāmaṁ tv idaṁ puṣpita-vṛkṣa-ṣaṇḍaṁ
nānā-vidhaiḥ pakṣi-gaṇair upetam
vanaṁ prayātā nu tad apy ayuktam
ekākinī sātibibheti bhīruḥ

kāmam tu = surely; idam = [for] it; puṣpita-vṛkṣa-ṣaṇḍam = is filled with flowering trees; nānā-vidhaiḥ = of several kinds; pakṣi-gaṇaiḥ upetam = and birds; vanam = to the forest; prayātā nu = would have gone; tat = [but] that; api = too; ayuktam = isn’t reasonable; ekākinī = alone; = she; atibibheti = is extremely frightened [to go there]; bhīruḥ = that timid lady.

Surely, she would have gone to the forest, [for] it is filled with flowering trees and birds of several kinds. [But] that isn’t reasonable too. That timid lady is extremely frightened [to go there] alone.
