नैनां पश्यामि तीर्थेषु क्रोशतो न शृणोति मे।
कं नु सा देशमापन्ना वैदेही क्लेशनाशिनी।
न ह्यहं वेद तं देशं यत्र सा जनकात्मजा॥
naināṁ paśyāmi tīrtheṣu krośato na śṛṇoti me
kaṁ nu sā deśam āpannā vaidehī kleśa-nāśinī
na hy ahaṁ veda taṁ deśaṁ yatra sā janakātmajā
na = not; enām = her; paśyāmi = I do see; tīrtheṣu = in the ghats; krośataḥ = calling out [to her]; na śṛṇoti = doesn’t hear; me = Me; kam nu = to which; sā = she; deśam = place; āpannā = did go; vaidehī = Vaidehī; kleśa-nāśinī = who used to destroy all distress; na hi = don’t; aham = I; veda = know; tam deśam yatra = where; sā = the; janaka-ātmajā = daughter of King Janaka is.
I do not see her in the ghats. She doesn’t hear Me calling out [to her]. To which place did Vaidehī, who used to destroy all distress, go? I just don’t know where the daughter of King Janaka is!
