Chapter 64: Rāma Discovers Some Clues About Sītā’s Whereabouts
Text 3.64.28
मन्ये सूर्यश्च वायुश्च मेदिनी च यशस्विनी।
अभिरक्षन्ति पुष्पाणि प्रकुर्वन्तो मम प्रियम्॥
manye sūryaś ca vāyuś ca medinī ca yaśasvinī
abhirakṣanti puṣpāṇi prakurvanto mama priyam
manye = I think that; sūryaḥ ca = the sun; vāyuḥ ca = wind; medinī = earth; ca = and; yaśasvinī = the glorious; abhirakṣanti = have protected; puṣpāṇi = [these] flowers; prakurvantaḥ = [thus] bringing about; mama = My; priyam = pleasure.
I think that the sun, wind and the glorious earth have protected [these] flowers, [thus] bringing about My pleasure.
He implies that the sun didn’t cause the flowers to fade, the wind didn’t blow them up and the earth held on to them. Thus, they protected [these flowers].
