Chapter 64: Rāma Discovers Some Clues About Sītā’s Whereabouts
Text 3.64.31
क्रुद्धोऽब्रवीद्गिरिं तत्र सिंहः क्षुद्रमृगं यथा॥
kruddho ’bravīd giriṁ tatra siṁhaḥ kṣudra-mṛgaṁ yathā
kruddhaḥ = in anger; abravīt = He spoke; girim = to the mountain; tatra = there; siṁhaḥ = a lion; kṣudra-mṛgam = [speaks] to an insignificant deer; yathā = just as.
In anger, He spoke to the mountain there just as a lion [speaks] to an insignificant deer.
1 The presiding deity of the mountain didn’t show Sītā-devī to Lord Śrī Rāma.
Lord Rāmacandra spoke this verse because He didn’t see [Sītā-devī there].1
