इत्युक्त्वा रोषताम्राक्षो रामो निष्पीड्य कार्मुकम्।
शरमादाय सन्दीप्तं घोरमाशीविषोपमम्॥
सन्धाय धनुषि श्रीमान्रामः परपुरञ्जयः।
युगान्ताग्निरिव क्रुद्ध इदं वचनमब्रवीत्॥
ity uktvā roṣa-tāmrākṣo rāmo niṣpīḍya kārmukam
śaram ādāya sandīptam ghoram āśī-viṣopamam
sandhāya dhanuṣi śrīmān rāmaḥ para-purañjayaḥ
yugāntāgnir iva kruddha idaṁ vacanam abravīt
iti = this; uktvā = having said; roṣa-tāmra-akṣaḥ = whose eyes were copper-red in fury; rāmaḥ = Lord Rāma; niṣpīḍya = firmly grasped with His fist; kārmukam = His bow; śaram = arrow; ādāya = took; sandīptam = a blazing; ghoram = and terrible; āśī-viṣa-upamam = that resembled a venomous snake; sandhāya = and placed it; dhanuṣi = on His bow; śrīmān = the prosperous; rāmaḥ = Rāma; para-purañjayaḥ = conqueror of His opponents’ cities; yuga-anta-agniḥ = the fire of universal dissolution; iva kruddhaḥ = then became as angry as; idam = the following; vacanam = words; abravīt = and spoke.
Having said this, Lord Rāma whose eyes were copper-red in fury firmly grasped His bow with His fist, took a blazing and terrible arrow that resembled a venomous snake and placed it on His bow. Rāma, the prosperous conqueror of His opponents’ cities, then became as angry as the fire of universal dissolution and spoke the following words.
