Chapter 69: Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa Meet Kabandha
Text 3.69.2
तौ दिशं दक्षिणां गत्वा शरचापासिधारिणौ।
अविप्रहतमैक्ष्वाकौ पन्थानं प्रतिपेदतुः॥
tau diśaṁ dakṣiṇāṁ gatvā śara-cāpāsidhāriṇau
aviprahatam aikṣvākau panthānaṁ pratipedatuḥ
tau = the two; diśam dakṣiṇām = towards the south-west; gatvā = proceeded; śara-cāpa-asidhāriṇau = with bows, arrows and swords; aviprahatam = a hitherto unexplored; aikṣvākau = descendants of Ikṣvāku; panthānam = path; pratipedatuḥ = and reached.
With bows, arrows and swords, the two descendants of Ikṣvāku proceeded towards the south-west and reached a hitherto unexplored path.1
