The great forest Daṇḍakāraṇya was covered with many shrubs and trees such as the bamboo, and filled with creepers on all sides. The forest was uneven and impenetrable, and because it was terrible to behold and frequented by snakes and lions, it was very frightening. The two greatly powerful [princes] quickly passed through that forest and got out of it.
