Chapter 70: The Fall of Kabandha
Text 3.70.10
स पपात महाबाहुश्छिन्नबाहुर्महास्वनः।
खं च गां च दिशश्चैव नादयञ्जलदो यथा॥
sa papāta mahā-bāhuś chinna-bāhur mahā-svanaḥ
khaṁ ca gāṁ ca diśaś caiva nādayañ jalado yathā
saḥ = the; papāta = fell down; mahā-bāhuḥ = mighty-armed [dānava]; chinna-bāhuḥ = when his arms were severed; mahā-svanaḥ = with a great sound; kham ca = through the sky; gām ca = earth; diśaḥ = [all] directions; ca eva = and; nādayan = it reverberated; jaladaḥ = [the great sound of] a cloud; yathā = resembling.
When his arms were severed, the mighty-armed [dānava] fell down with a great sound. Resembling [the great sound of] a cloud, it reverberated through the sky, earth and [all] directions.
