Chapter 72: Kabandha Tells Rāma About Sugrīva
Text 3.72.8
राम षड्युक्तयो लोके याभिः सर्वं विमृश्यते॥
rāma ṣaḍ yuktayo loke yābhiḥ sarvaṁ vimṛśyate
rāma = O Rāma; ṣaḍ = the six; yuktayaḥ = methods of achieving a goal; loke = in the world; yābhiḥ = in terms of; sarvam = everything; vimṛśyate = kings consider.
Rāma, kings consider everything in terms of the six methods of achieving a goal in the world.
The six methods of achieving a goal in this world are: (1) sandhi or political alliance, (2) vigraha or political hostility, (3) yāna or military march, (4) āsana or halt in such a march, (5) dvaidhī-bhāva or diplomacy, and (6) saṁśraya or taking shelter of others.
So what [if there are these six methods]? The next verse points out [that] sandhi or political alliance [should be resorted to by Lord Rāma now].
