परिमृष्टो दशान्तेन दशाभागेन सेव्यते।
दशाभागगतो हीनस्त्वं हि रामः सलक्ष्मणः।
यत्कृते व्यसनं प्राप्तं त्वया दारप्रधर्षणम्॥
parimṛṣṭo daśāntena daśā-bhāgena sevyate
daśā-bhāga-gato hīnas tvaṁ hi rāmaḥ salakṣmaṇaḥ
yat-kṛte vyasanaṁ prāptaṁ tvayā dāra-pradharṣaṇam
parimṛṣṭaḥ = a man touched; daśā-antena = with one in a [similar] state of adversity; daśā-bhāgena = by extreme adversity; sevyate = establishes an alliance; daśā-bhāga-gataḥ = are in extreme adversity; hīnaḥ = therefore You are forsaken; tvam = You; hi = indeed; rāmaḥ = Rāma; salakṣmaṇaḥ = and Lakṣmaṇa; yat-kṛte = because of which; vyasanam = the crisis; prāptam = have attained; tvayā = You; dāra-pradharṣaṇam = of having Sītā abducted.
A man touched by extreme adversity establishes an alliance with one in a [similar] state of adversity. Indeed, You, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa, are in extreme adversity. Therefore, You are forsaken, because of which You have attained the crisis of having Sītā abducted!1
1 According to Kabandha, Śrī Rāma was forsaken because He was already in a state of extreme adversity by losing His kingdom, and consequently His wife was kidnapped.
So what should Rāma do? The answer is presented in the next verse.
