Chapter 73: Kabandha Requests Śrī Rāma to Visit Śabarī
Text 3.73.38
ऋक्षांश्च द्वीपिनश्चैव नीलकोमलकप्रभान्।
रुरूनपेतापजयान्दृष्ट्वा शोकं जहिष्यसि॥
ṛkṣāṁś ca dvīpinaś caiva nīla-komalaka-prabhān
rurūn apetāpajayān dṛṣṭvā śokaṁ jahiṣyasi
ṛkṣān ca = bears; dvīpinaḥ = tigers; ca eva = and; nīla-komalaka-prabhān = who possess a charming illumination like that of a sapphire; rurūn = rurus; apeta-apajayān = and who don’t know defeat; dṛṣṭvā = upon seeing; śokam = Your distress; jahiṣyasi = You will give up.
Upon seeing bears, tigers and rurus who possess a charming illumination like that of a sapphire and who don’t know defeat, You will give up Your distress.
Rurus are a species of deer.
