तैश्चाहमुक्ता धर्मज्ञैर्महाभागैर्महर्षिभिः।
आगमिष्यति ते रामः सुपुण्यमिममाश्रमम्॥
taiś cāham uktā dharmajñair mahā-bhāgair maha-rṣibhiḥ
āgamiṣyati te rāmaḥ supuṇyam imam āśramam
taiḥ ca = they; aham = me; uktā = told; dharmajñaiḥ = knew dharma; mahā-bhāgaiḥ = and were very greatly fortunate; mahā-ṛṣibhiḥ = those great sages; āgamiṣyati = will come; te = of yours; rāmaḥ = Lord Rāma; supuṇyam = very pious; imam = to this; āśramam = āśrama.
They knew dharma and were very greatly fortunate. Those great sages told me: Lord Rāma will come to this very pious āśrama of yours!
1 The spiritual destination that Śabarī was to attain is the spiritual world of Vaikuṇṭha. How one can, step by step, engage in aṣṭāṅga-yoga, meditate on Paramātmā, become a pure devotee of Bhagavān and attain His abode is summarized in Chapter Six of Bhagavad-gītā. Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: dharmajñaiḥ yoga-rūpa-bhagavat-prāpty-upāyābhāve ’py ācārya-prasāda-kṛta-bhagavat-prasādāt sad-gatim iyaṁ prāpsyatīty etad-dharmajñaiḥ.
“They knew dharma”: They knew the dharma by which Śabarī could attain a spiritual destination by His mercy, [which was itself] the result of her spiritual masters’ mercy—even though she had not practiced [aṣṭāṅga-]yoga, a process by which one attains the Supreme Personality of Godhead.1
They were very greatly fortunate with knowledge of future events [pertaining to her].
[Her āśrama] was very pious—it was fit for [the Lord’s personal] visit.
