Chapter 74: Lord Rāma Visits Śabarī
Text 3.74.24
तेषां तपःप्रभावेन पश्याद्यापि रघूद्वह।
द्योतयन्ति दिशः सर्वाः श्रिया वेद्योऽतुलप्रभाः॥
teṣāṁ tapaḥ-prabhāvena paśyādyāpi raghūdvaha
dyotayanti diśaḥ sarvāḥ śriyā vedyo ’tula-prabhāḥ
teṣām = their; tapas-prabhāvena = of austerities; paśya = look; adya = today; api = even; raghu-udvaha = O descendant of Raghu; dyotayanti = illuminate; diśaḥ = the directions; sarvāḥ = all; śriyā = by the splendor; vedyaḥ = these altars; atula-prabhāḥ = of incomparable effulgence.
O descendant of Raghu, look! Even today, these altars of incomparable effulgence illuminate all the directions by the splendor of their austerities.
1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: anena ācāryābhimato deśas tad-asannidhāne ’py uddeśya ity uktam.
“Even today” means “even in their absence.”
This verse indicates that places dear to one’s spiritual masters should be kept in view.1
In the next verse, she points out another glory [of her spiritual masters].
