Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 74: Lord Rāma Visits Śabarī
Text 3.74.31
तामुवाच ततो रामः श्रमणीं संशितव्रताम्।
अर्चितोऽहं त्वया भक्त्या गच्छ कामं यथासुखम्॥
tām uvāca tato rāmaḥ śramaṇīṁ saṁśita-vratām
arcito ’haṁ tvayā bhaktyā gaccha kāmaṁ yathā-sukham
tām = the; uvāca = told; tataḥ = then; rāmaḥ = Lord Rāmacandra; śramaṇīm = lady renunciant; saṁśita-vratām = of fierce vows; arcitaḥ = have been worshipped; aham = I; tvayā = by you; bhaktyā = with devotion; gaccha = go; kāmam = to the desirable world [of Vaikuṇṭha]; yathā-sukham = happily.
Then Lord Rāmacandra told the lady renunciant of fierce vows: I have been worshipped by you with devotion. Happily go to the desirable world [of Vaikuṇṭha]!
Śaṁsita-vratām indicates that she was fixed in the service of her spiritual masters. Śabarī had worshipped [Lord Rāma] simply by revealing her devotion to her spiritual masters. [And] it was in devotion that she had given Him the forest food [that she had affectionately collected for Him]. This was summarized earlier—śabaryā pūjitaḥ samyak: “Śabarī worshipped [Him] completely.” (Rāmāyaṇa 1.1.55)
