Chapter 3: Daśaratha Informs Rāma About his Decision
Text 2.3.17
सर्वे च तालावचरा गणिकाश्च स्वलङ्कृताः।
कक्ष्यां द्वितीयामासाद्य तिष्ठन्तु नृपवेश्मनः॥
sarve ca tālāvacarā gaṇikāś ca svalaṅkṛtāḥ
kakṣyāṁ dvitīyām āsādya tiṣṭhantu nṛpa-veśmanaḥ
sarve ca = all; tālāvacarāḥ = the dancers, actors; gaṇikāḥ = courtesans; ca = and; su-alaṅkṛtāḥ = well-decorated; kakṣyām = enclosure; dvitīyām = to the second; āsādya = may go and; tiṣṭhantu = be there; nṛpa-veśmanaḥ = of the king’s residence.
May all the dancers, actors and well decorated courtesans go to the second enclosure of the king’s residence and be there.
They had to go to the second enclosure since the inner enclosure would be used for the coronation ceremony and the brāhmaṇas would have to be there.
