Chapter 3: Daśaratha Informs Rāma About his Decision
Text 2.3.20
एवं व्यादिश्य विप्रौ तौ क्रियास्तत्र सुनिष्ठितौ।
चक्रतुश्चैव यच्छेषं पार्थिवाय निवेद्य च॥
evaṁ vyādiśya viprau tau kriyās tatra suniṣṭhitau
cakratuś caiva yac cheṣaṁ pārthivāya nivedya ca
evam = thus; vyādiśya = ordered [to be carried out]; viprau = two brāhmaṇas Vasiṣṭha and Vāmadeva; tau = the; kriyāḥ = for these priestly activities; tatra = in the king’s palace; suniṣṭhitau = well situated; cakratuḥ = carried them out; ca eva = and; yat = of the; śeṣam = remaining tasks at hand; pārthivāya = the king; nivedya ca = informed.
The two brāhmaṇas Vasiṣṭha and Vāmadeva, well situated in the king’s palace, thus ordered for these priestly activities [to be carried out], informed the king of the remaining tasks at hand and carried them out.
The remaining tasks were to bring maidservants, family members and so on.
