Chapter 5: Vasiṣṭha Prepares Rāma for the Coronation
Text 2.5.2
गच्छोपवासं काकुत्स्थं कारयाद्य तपोधन।
श्रीयशोराज्यलाभाय वध्वा सह यतव्रतम्॥
gacchopavāsaṁ kākutsthaṁ kārayādya tapo-dhana
śrī-yaśo-rājya-lābhāya vadhvā saha yata-vratam
gaccha = please go; upavāsam = fast; kākutstham = to the descendant of Kakutstha; kāraya = and make Him; adya = now; tapaḥ-dhana = O one whose wealth is austerity; śrī-yaśaḥ-rājya-lābhāya = to attain prosperity, fame and the kingdom; vadhvā = His young wife; saha = with; yata-vratam = and observe the disciplined vows [required for the coronation].
O one whose wealth is austerity, please go now to the descendant of Kakutstha and make Him fast and observe the disciplined vows [required for the coronation] with His young wife to attain prosperity, fame and the kingdom.
