Chapter 5: Vasiṣṭha Prepares Rāma for the Coronation
Text 2.5.9
प्रसन्नस्ते पिता राम यौवराज्यमवाप्स्यसि।
उपवासं भवानद्य करोतु सह सीतया॥
prasannas te pitā rāma yauvarājyam avāpsyasi
upavāsaṁ bhavān adya karotu saha sītayā
prasannaḥ = is happy that; te = Your; pitā = father; rāma = Rāma; yauvarājyam = the heir apparent; avāpsyasi = You will become; upavāsam = fast; bhavān1 adya = now; karotu = please; saha = with; sītayā = Sītā.
1. Technical note: bhavān upavāsam karotu.
Rāma, Your father is happy that You will become the heir apparent. Now please fast with Sītā.
