Chapter 5: Vasiṣṭha Prepares Rāma for the Coronation
Text 2.5.17
जनवृन्दोर्मिसङ्घर्षहर्षस्वनवतस् तदा।
बभूव राजमार्गस्य सागरस्येव निस्वनः॥
jana-vṛndormi-saṅgharṣa-harṣa-svanavatas tadā
babhūva rāja-mārgasya sāgarasyeva nisvanaḥ
jana-vṛnda-ūrmi-saṅgharṣa-harṣa-svanavataḥ = due to the delighted sounds of the clashing of people who resembled waves; tadā = at that time; babhūva = was; rāja-mārgasya = from the grand road; sāgarasya = that of the ocean; iva = like; nisvanaḥ = the noise.
At that time, the noise from the grand road due to the delighted sounds of the clashing of people who resembled waves was like that of the ocean.
