Chapter 5: Vasiṣṭha Prepares Rāma for the Coronation
Text 2.5.23

तमागतमभिप्रेक्ष्य हित्वा राजासनं नृपः।
पप्रच्छ स च तस्मै तत्कृतमित्यभ्यवेदयत्॥

tam āgatam abhiprekṣya hitvā rājāsanaṁ nṛpaḥ
papraccha sa ca tasmai tat kṛtam ity abhyavedayat

tam = Vasiṣṭha; āgatam = had arrived; abhiprekṣya = noticing that; hitvā = got up from and; rāja-āsanam = his royal seat; nṛpaḥ = King Daśaratha; papraccha = inquired [about the happenings]; saḥ ca = Vasiṣṭha; tasmai = him; tat = it; kṛtam iti = is done; abhyavedayat = told.

Noticing that Vasiṣṭha had arrived, King Daśaratha got up from his royal seat and inquired [about the happenings]. Vasiṣṭha told him, “It is done.”

King Daśaratha got up from his siṁhāsana and asked Vasiṣṭha, “Did you have Rāma take up the the fasting?” Vasiṣṭha told Daśaratha, “The [inauguration for the] fast has taken place.”
