Chapter 9: Kaikeyī Convinced by Mantharā
Text 2.9.29
यदा तु ते वरं दद्यात्स्वयमुत्थाप्य राघवः।
व्यवस्थाप्य महाराजं त्वमिमं वृणुया वरम्॥
yadā tu te varaṁ dadyāt svayam utthāpya rāghavaḥ
vyavasthāpya mahā-rājaṁ tvam imaṁ vṛṇuyā varam
yadā tu = when; te = you; varam = the boons; dadyāt = grants; svayam = personally; utthāpya = makes you sit up and; rāghavaḥ = the descendant of Raghu; vyavasthāpya = confine to the principle of truthfulness and; mahā-rājam = the Mahārāja; tvam1 imam = these; vṛṇuyāḥ = then ask him; varam = two boons.
When the descendant of Raghu personally makes you sit up and grants you the boons, confine the Mahārāja to the principle of truthfulness, and then ask him these two boons.
