Chapter 9: Kaikeyī Convinced by Mantharā
Text 2.9.31
चतुर्दश हि वर्षाणि रामे प्रव्राजिते वनम्।
रूढश्च कृतमूलश्च शेषं स्थास्यति ते सुतः॥
caturdaśa hi varṣāṇi rāme pravrājite vanam
rūḍhaś ca kṛta-mūlaś ca śeṣaṁ sthāsyati te sutaḥ
caturdaśa hi = for fourteen; varṣāṇi = years; rāme = after Rāma; pravrājite = has gone; vanam = to the forest; rūḍhaḥ ca = fame and prosperity; kṛta-mūlaḥ = have brought the homeland armed forces under His control; ca = and; śeṣam = for the rest of His life; sthāsyati = will rise to; te = your; sutaḥ = son.
After Rāma has gone to the forest for fourteen years, your son will rise to fame and prosperity, and have brought the homeland armed forces under His control for the rest of His life.
