Chapter 10: Daśaratha Meets Kaikeyī
Text 2.10.19
ततो गृहगतो राजा कैकेयीं पर्यपृच्छत।
यथापुरमविज्ञाय स्वार्थलिप्सुमपण्डिताम्॥
tato gṛha-gato rājā kaikeyīṁ paryapṛcchata
yathā-puram avijñāya svārtha-lipsum apaṇḍitām
tataḥ = then; gṛha-gataḥ = going to his home; rājā = the king; kaikeyīm = Kaikeyī; paryapṛcchata = inquired about; yathā-puram = as before; avijñāya = he did not know; sva-artha-lipsum = was focused on her own purposes; apaṇḍitām = that the unintelligent Kaikeyī.
Then, going to his home, the king inquired about Kaikeyī as before. He did not know that the unintelligent Kaikeyī was focused on her own purposes.
Daśaratha inquired about her from the doorwoman just as he had inquired for her when he did not [personally] find her.
