Chapter 11: Kaikeyī Demands two Boons
Text 2.11.10
बलमात्मनि पश्यन्ती न मां शङ्कितुमर्हसि।
करिष्यामि तव प्रीतिं सुकृतेनापि ते शपे॥
balam ātmani paśyantī na māṁ śaṅkitum arhasi
kariṣyāmi tava prītiṁ sukṛtenāpi te śape
balam = your influence; ātmani = on me; paśyantī = noticing; na = not; mām = me; śaṅkitum = doubt; arhasi = you should; kariṣyāmi = that I will do; tava = to you; prītim = what is pleasing; sukṛtena api = on my piety; te = you; śape = I promise.
Noticing your influence on me, you should not doubt me. I promise you on my piety that I will do what is pleasing to you.
Kaikeyī’s influence on Daśaratha was the strength of her good fortune to captivate his eyes and heart.
