Chapter 11: Kaikeyī Demands two Boons
Text 2.11.13
यथाक्रमेण शपसि वरं मम ददासि च।
तच्छृण्वन्तु त्रयस्त्रिंशद्देवाः साग्निपुरोगमाः॥
yathā-krameṇa śapasi varaṁ mama dadāsi ca
tac chṛṇvantu trayas-triṁśad devāḥ sāgni-purogamāḥ
yathā-krameṇa = on your beloved son and piety; śapasi = you have promised me; varam = the boon [I seek]; mama = me; dadāsi ca = that you will grant; tat = to this; śṛṇvantu = may listen; trayaḥ-triṁśat = the thirty-three; devāḥ = devas; sa-agni-purogamāḥ = headed by Agni.
You have promised me on your beloved son and piety that you will grant me the boon [I seek]. May the thirty-three devas headed by Agni listen to this.
Kaikeyī now informs the devas, who witness the dharmic and adharmic activities of human beings, [of Daśaratha’s promise] to reinforce Daśaratha’s word of honor.
