बहूनां स्त्रीसहस्राणां बहूनां चोपजीविनाम्।
परिवादोऽपवादो वा राघवे नोपपद्यते॥
bahūnāṁ strī-sahasrāṇāṁ bahūnāṁ copajīvinām
parivādo ’pavādo vā rāghave nopapadyate
bahūnām = by the many; strī-sahasrāṇām = thousands of women; bahūnām = several; ca = and; upajīvinām = dependants; parivādaḥ = complaint; apavādaḥ = criticism; vā = or; rāghave = of Rāghava; na = no; upapadyate = has been known to have been made.
No complaint or criticism of Rāghava has been known to have been made by the many thousands of women and several dependants.
1 Note that even Mantharā had only speculations that Rāma might harm Bharata in the future and so on to offer while she poisoned Kaikeyī’s mind. She didn’t have a single complaint regarding anything Rāma had ever done anything wrong till date.
Neither complaints nor criticisms could be taken as reasons to exile Rāma. Bahūnām indicates that among thousands of women and thousands of dependants, not even one lady or man had a single complaint or criticism of Rāghava.1
