Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.84
बालिशो बत कामात्मा राजा दशरथो भृशम्।
स्त्रीकृते यः प्रियं पुत्रं वनं प्रस्थापयिष्यति॥
bāliśo bata kāmātmā rājā daśaratho bhṛśam
strī-kṛte yaḥ priyaṁ putraṁ vanaṁ prasthāpayiṣyati
bāliśaḥ = a fool 7; bata = is certainly; kāma-ātmā = lusty in character; rājā = King; daśarathaḥ = Daśaratha; bhṛśam = and excessively; strī-kṛte = for the sake of a woman; yaḥ = who; priyam = his beloved; putram = son; vanam = to the forest; prasthāpayiṣyati = can banish.
“King Daśaratha, who can banish his beloved son to the forest for the sake of a woman, is certainly a fool and excessively lusty in character.
