Chapter 12: Kaikeyī Reaffirms her Demands
Text 2.12.91
कौसल्यां मां च रामं च पुत्रौ च यदि हास्यति।
दुःखान्यसहती देवी मामेवानु मरिष्यति॥
kausalyāṁ māṁ ca rāmaṁ ca putrau ca yadi hāsyati
duḥkhāny asahatī devī mām evānu mariṣyati
kausalyām = Kausalyā; mām ca = me; rāmam ca = Rāma; putrau = her two sons Lakṣmaṇa and Śatrughna; ca = and; yadi = if; hāsyati = loses; duḥkhāni = the distresses; asahatī = she will be unable to tolerate; devī = Queen Sumitrā; mām eva = me; anu = after; mariṣyati = and die.
If Queen Sumitrā loses Kausalyā, me, Rāma and her two sons Lakṣmaṇa and Śatrughna, she will be unable to tolerate the distresses and die after me.
