Chapter 14: Daśaratha Grants Kaikeyī her two Boons
Text 2.14.46
ततः सूतो यथाकालं पार्थिवस्य निवेशने।
सुमन्त्रः प्राञ्जलिर्भूत्वा तुष्टाव जगतीपतिम्॥
tataḥ sūto yathā-kālaṁ pārthivasya niveśane
sumantraḥ prāñjalir bhūtvā tuṣṭāva jagatī-patim
tataḥ = then; sūtaḥ = the sūta; yathā-kālam = as is appropriate in the early morning; pārthivasya = king’s; niveśane = at the residence; sumantraḥ = Sumantra; prāñjaliḥ bhūtvā = joined his palms in supplication and; tuṣṭāva = praised; jagatī-patim = the king.
Then, the sūta Sumantra joined his palms in supplication and praised the king at the king’s residence as is appropriate in the early morning.
