Chapter 14: Daśaratha Grants Kaikeyī her two Boons
Text 2.14.50
आदित्यः सह चन्द्रेण यथा भूतधरां शुभाम्।
बोधयत्यद्य पृथिवीं तथा त्वां बोधयाम्यहम्॥
ādityaḥ saha candreṇa yathā bhūta-dharāṁ śubhām
bodhayaty adya pṛthivīṁ tathā tvāṁ bodhayāmy aham
ādityaḥ = the sun; saha candreṇa = and the moon; yathā = just as; bhūta-dharām = sustainer of all creatures; śubhām = the auspicious; bodhayati = wake up; adya = today; pṛthivīm = the earth; tathā tvām = you; bodhayāmi = wake up; aham = I.
I wake you up today just as the sun and the moon wake up the earth, the auspicious sustainer of all creatures.
