अश्रुत्वा राजवचनं कथं गच्छामि भामिनि।
तच्छुत्वा मन्त्रिणो वाक्यं राजा मन्त्रिणमब्रवीत्।
सुमत्र रामं द्रक्ष्यामि शीघ्रमानय सुन्दरम्॥
aśrutvā rāja-vacanaṁ kathaṁ gacchāmi bhāmini
tac chrutvā mantriṇo vākyaṁ rājā mantriṇam abravīt
sumantra rāmaṁ drakṣyāmi śīghram ānaya sundaram
aśrutvā = without hearing; rāja-vacanam = the king’s command; katham = how; gacchāmi = can I go [to Rāma with this instruction]; bhāmini = [Sumantra said:] beautiful lady; tat = the; śrutvā = hearing; mantriṇaḥ = of his minister; vākyam = words; rājā = the king; mantriṇam = him; abravīt = told; sumantra = Sumantra; rāmam = Rāma; drakṣyāmi = I want to see; śīghram = quickly; ānaya = bring Him; sundaram = the handsome.
[Sumantra said:] “Beautiful lady, how can I go [to Rāma with this instruction] without hearing the king’s command?” Hearing the words of his minister, the king told him, “Sumantra, I want to see the handsome Rāma. Quickly bring Him.”
