अद्य चन्दनसारस्य केयूरामोक्षणस्य च।
वसूनां च विमोक्षस्य सुहृदां पालनस्य च॥
अनुरूपाविमौ बाहू राम कर्म करिष्यतः।
अभिषेचनविघ्नस्य कर्तॄणां ते निवारणे॥
अद्य चन्दनसारस्य केयूरामोक्षणस्य च।
वसूनां च विमोक्षस्य सुहृदां पालनस्य च॥
अनुरूपाविमौ बाहू राम कर्म करिष्यतः।
अभिषेचनविघ्नस्य कर्तॄणां ते निवारणे॥
adya = today; candana-sārasya = for [being smeared with] sandalwood pulp; keyūra-āmokṣaṇasya ca = for wearing armlets 7; vasūnām ca = wealth; vimokṣasya = for giving in charity; suhṛdām = Our well-wishers from their enemies; pālanasya = for protecting; ca = and; anurūpau = are well suited; imau bāhū = though My arms; rāma = Rāma; karma = the work; kariṣyataḥ = they will do; abhiṣecana-vighnasya kartṝṇām = those who obstruct coronation; te = Your; nivāraṇe = of preventing.
Rāma, though My arms are well suited for [being smeared with] sandalwood pulp, for wearing armlets, for giving wealth in charity and for protecting Our well-wishers from their enemies, today they will do the work of preventing those who obstruct Your coronation.
Lakṣmaṇa’s arms were well suited [for the above purposes], that is, appropriate for a prince. Yet, Lakṣmaṇa wanted to set aside such [uses to prevent those who obstruct Rāma’s coronation].
