Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 25: Kausalyā Invokes Auspiciousness for Rāma
Text 2.25.11

स्कन्दश्च भगवान्देवः सोमश्च सबृहस्पतिः।
सप्तर्षयो नारदश्च ते त्वां रक्षन्तु सर्वतः॥

skandaś ca bhagavān devaḥ somaś ca sabṛhaspatiḥ
sapta-rṣayo nāradaś ca te tvāṁ rakṣantu sarvataḥ

skandaḥ ca = Sanat-kumāra; bhagavān = the powerful; devaḥ somaḥ ca = Somadeva; sabṛhaspatiḥ = Bṛhaspati; sapta-rṣayaḥ = seven sages; nāradaḥ = Nārada; ca = and; te = the; tvām = You; rakṣantu = may protect; sarvataḥ = in all sides.

May the powerful Sanat-kumāra, Somadeva, Bṛhaspati, the seven sages and Nārada protect You in all sides!1

Skandaḥ here refers to Sanat-kumāra, since the Dahara-vidyā of Chāndogya Upaniṣad (7.26.2) refers to the powerful Sanat-kumāra as Skanda: bhagavān sanat-kumāras taṁ skanda ity ācakṣate. taṁ skanda ity ācakṣate. Skandaḥ can also indicate that [Kausalyā invoked the protection of] Kumāra, [the son of Lord Śiva].

1 Somadeva refers to the presiding deity of the moon, Candra.
