Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 26: Rāma Meets Sītā and Instructs Her
Text 2.26.10

न ते शतशलाकेन जलफेननिभेन च।
आवृतं वदनं वल्गु छत्रेणापि विराजते॥

na te śata-śalākena jala-phena-nibhena ca
āvṛtaṁ vadanaṁ valgu chatreṇāpi virājate

na = not; te = Your; śata-śalākena = hundred-ribbed; jala-phena-nibhena ca = as white as the foam of water; āvṛtam = while being covered over; vadanam = face; valgu = beautiful; chatreṇa api = umbrella; virājate = does shine.

“Your beautiful face does not shine while being covered over by a hundred-ribbed umbrella as white as the foam of water.

“As white as the foam of water”: Sītā-devī indicates that the umbrella [that is meant to be over Lord Rāma’s head] is as white as pure foam.
