Chapter 26: Rāma Meets Sītā and Instructs Her
Text 2.26.13
न ते क्षौद्रं च दधि च ब्राह्मणा वेदपारगाः।
मूर्ध्नि मूर्धाभिषिक्तस्य दधति स्म विधानतः॥
na te kṣaudraṁ ca dadhi ca brāhmaṇā veda-pāragāḥ
mūrdhni mūrdhābhiṣiktasya dadhati sma vidhānataḥ
na = not; te = Your; kṣaudram ca = honey; dadhi = yoghurt; ca = and; brāhmaṇāḥ = brāhmaṇas; veda-pāragāḥ = experienced in Vedic knowledge; mūrdhni = on head; mūrdha-abhiṣiktasya = [though] You have taken a full bath; dadhati sma = have sprinkled; vidhānataḥ = as per the scriptural regulations.
“Brāhmaṇas experienced in Vedic knowledge have not sprinkled honey and yoghurt on Your head as per the scriptural regulations, [though] You have taken a full bath.
